Seren Project – Year 8

The Seren group were visiting Bridgend College today for an introduction to workshops on developing skills. CCYD made up part of the audience with 3 other schools from Bridgend District, Archbishop Mcgrath, Cynffig and YGGL.

The speakers at the event were from Reading University, covering workshops on an Introduction to Rocketry, Graphic Cultures and the Chemistry of Chocolate on a carousel. 

There was some very informative and useful information from the workshops which sparked lots of discussion, interaction and interest around their given subjects, but the taste testing in the chocolate workshop had to be the one that was testing all the senses!

Thank you to the Seren project for all the useful information and to The University of Reading for their support today. The learners enjoyed exploring the topics and “tasters” on offer, even more so with the explanations of the sciences behind them.
