Mindfulness
At CCYD we are committed to supporting young people as individuals and part of this can be seen through our introduction of mindfulness to the school curriculum to support students’ health and wellbeing.
We follow the Mindfulness in schools projects (MiSP). b programme, which has an ever growing evidence base proving the benefits of mindfulness. Some of the benefits include improvements in concentration and cognition, wellbeing and mental health and behaviour.
The course is taught by trained .B teachers who also practice mindfulness in their own lives. We follow a curriculum that is specifically designed for young people, it is a 9 week programme and follows the following themes each session building on the previous skills and ideas.
The aim of the course is to bring mindfulness to students in an interesting way and equip students with skills they can build on. We encourage students to practise at home and provide support through MiSP website to do this.
