A total of 36 Year 9 learners attended this year’s Duke of Edinburgh Campcraft training day. They completed a 10k training walk which helped them learn the basics of orienteering around a mapped route. They were taught how to take compass bearings and how to read a route card in conjunction with a map.
The circular route took them from the school to Pen y Fai farmlands and back again. There was a lunch stop at the half way point.
All learners said they enjoyed the experience and are now looking forward to their expedition in the Summer.
