Ospreys Tackle Project
This week we had our Ospreys Tackle session and decided to enhance our skills on being creative!
A task was given to create a kicking tee made by the limited resources of cardboard string and sellotape. Pupils were split into teams, a design had be be planned and agreed before pupils could create a model.
Pupils worked on communication skills, teamwork, negotiation, problem solving and collaboration to create a model of a kicking tee, which was then used in the activity session, to test.
Pupils created roles within their own teams (four teams in total) of kicker, catcher and engineer, with aims of scoring points based on their success rates of placement over posts, receiving ball and whether the tee was holding up to its design also whether it was fit for purpose or not.
The winning team of Theo, Harvey and Sam or “Ferry RFC” gained the most points out of the 4 teams which showed their skill and accuracy to win the days’ challenge.
Well done all. This was a competitive session bringing out some strong design ideas and good co operation to make this a very enjoyable session. Also to mention thanks to Kyle from the Ospreys Employability Officers for coming to CCYD for the first time with Mel and providing such a challenging lesson plan.
Diolch yn fawr.
