WELSH OPEN KARATE CHAMPIONS SCARLETT, NEVEAH & CAITLYN

At CCYD, we are incredibly proud to celebrate not only our learners’ academic achievements but also their successes beyond the classroom.
Too often, humble and talented young people keep their accomplishments to themselves, but it is so important that we recognise and celebrate their hard work and dedication. Celebrating success is neither boastful nor embarrassing. It is inspirational. It provides an opportunity for friends, family, teachers and the wider community to share in the pride of seeing young people achieve their goals. It also highlights the importance of staying active, maintaining discipline, working towards personal ambitions, and being rewarded for resilience, commitment and perseverance.
This weekend, our very own CCYD Year 7 learner Scarlett Wakefield competed in the Welsh Open Karate Championships, where she achieved outstanding success, winning a Gold Medal in Points Fighting and two Silver Medals in Traditional Forms.
We are immensely proud of Scarlett and everything she has accomplished. She is an inspiration to so many within our school community, demonstrating that with hard work, commitment, resilience and determination, great things can be achieved.
Congratulations, Scarlett. We look forward to following your journey and celebrating your future successes.

At CCYD, we actively encourage both learners and parents/carers to share and celebrate achievements that take place outside of school. Our strong partnership with families means that recognising success and supporting our learners on their individual journeys is of the utmost importance.
Being part of a club, team or organisation provides young people with invaluable opportunities to develop life skills, gain experience, build confidence and learn important lessons about both success and setbacks. These experiences help learners develop resilience, determination and perseverance, many of the same qualities that we strive to nurture every day in school.
One of our key mantras at CCYD is, “I can’t do it yet.” This reminds our learners that it is perfectly okay not to succeed the first time, or even every time. What matters most is continuing to try, learning from challenges and never giving up on your goals.
With this in mind, we are delighted to celebrate and congratulate Year 7 learner Neveah Ennis on her fantastic achievement at the Welsh Open Karate Championships this weekend, where she won a well-deserved Gold Medal.
Neveah’s determination, dedication and hard work have clearly paid off. She is a tough, resilient young learner who thoroughly deserves this success, and we are incredibly proud of her achievement.
Congratulations, Neveah, from everyone at CCYD. We look forward to celebrating many more successes with you in the future!

CCYD is incredibly proud to celebrate yet another Welsh Open Karate Gold Medal Champion, Year 7 learner Caitlyn Ransome.
Caitlyn is a kind-hearted, polite and hardworking young person who thoroughly deserves this fantastic achievement. Competing at the Welsh Open this weekend, she demonstrated outstanding skill, determination and composure to secure 2 x gold medals.
As if that achievement wasn’t impressive enough, Caitlyn is also due to receive her black belt next week, marking another significant milestone in her karate journey. Achieving a black belt at just 11 years old is a remarkable accomplishment and is testament to the commitment, dedication, resilience and hard work she has invested in her sport over many years.
Caitlyn is a wonderful ambassador for both herself and the school, and we are extremely proud of everything she has achieved. We look forward to following her continued success throughout her time at CCYD and beyond.
Congratulations, Caitlyn. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success for the future!
