Thought For The Fortnight

DAILY ACTIVE COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

The Education Reform Act 1988 and the Welsh Office Circular 10/94 set out the legal requirements for collective worship in schools in Wales as:

Collective worship in schools should aim to provide the opportunity for learners to worship God, to consider the spiritual and moral issues and to explore their own beliefs; to encourage participation and response, whether through active involvement in the presentation of worship or through listening to, watching and joining in the worship offered; and to develop community spirit, promote a common ethos and shared values, and reinforce positive attitudes.

At CCYD Daily Active Collective Worship is known as ‘Thought for the Fortnight.’ This is carried out during Form Period or Assembly. Learners listen to, watch or read an appropriate stimulus, this is then followed by reflection and discussion time. Some of the themes planned for the year include: Success, Friendship, Anti-Bullying and Respect.
