The House

In this comedy, we get to see the legendary Will Ferrell tackle the role of a family man who resorts to drastic measures to secure his daughter's education. The plot in brief involves Ferrell and his wife in the film, played by Amy Poehler, visiting a suitable college with their daughter. They warn their daughter of all the dangers that may befall her during college, but they are not the least bit concerned about the financing of her studies. They take for granted that their daughter will benefit from the scholarship awarded by the city they live in. Unfortunately, this year the city decides to stop awarding scholarships and instead use the money to build a swimming pool for city residents. Of course, everyone votes yes to this, everyone except Ferrell's character and family. Now the parents have to come up with an alternative solution to raise money for their daughter's education. They come up with a brilliant idea to open up a casino in their neighbour's basement. An idea that, of course, turns out to be anything but good. However, it's not a bad casino that they build, it really looks like any hot shot casino. With real blackjack tables and even a roulette wheel, they attract the cream of the town's citizens. By the way, did you know that Ferrel is married to Swede Viveca Paulin and that they have a summer house in Södermanland?

Friends

In this iconic 1990s series, we followed the fates and adventures of six friends over ten seasons. In those seasons, they did things like fall in love, marry each other and have children. They also had not one but two fun casino-themed episodes. In the first season in episode 18, the guys will teach the girls how to play poker. It doesn't go so well for the girls who have a hard time learning the rules, they lose big. To get back at them, they take lessons from Monica's aunt who is a real poker pro. Victorious, they ask for a chance to win their money back. In the end, Ross, who secretly has feelings for Rachel, lets her win after she is turned down for a job she applied for.

Next time we get to join the friends as they play for two episodes in season five. The friends head to Las Vegas to support their friend Joey who is there to shoot a movie. Monica and Chandler get it into their heads that they are getting married but at the same time both get cold feet and look for signs that they shouldn't. Ross and Rachel have a falling out on the plane there which results in Ross painting a moustache on Rachel as she sleeps. It turns out to be with a spray paint pen that is impossible to remove. To make it up to Rachel, they empty the mini-bar in their room and then head out on the town, properly rounded underfoot. The next day they have forgotten they are married, something the other friends inform them of over breakfast. Pheobe has her own little adventure as she tries to outsmart a seasoned Vegas robber who is stealing other people's jackpots on the slot machines.

Top Casino Movie Scenes We Can't Forget - Movie Marker

Run Lola

This multi-award-winning German film directed by Tom Tykwer is based on the classic 1986 film The Key of Fate, written by Polish screenwriter Krzysztof Kieslowski. Both films are based on the quirk of fate and the different scenarios that chance can bestow upon us. In the current film, we follow Lola, played by Franka Potente, through three possible scenarios as she runs to get 100 000 Deutschmarks for her bumbling boyfriend. He is a money courier for the Mafia but has managed to forget the money on the subway. Now he has 20 minutes to get the money. The title comes from the fact that he just screams Spring Lola, or Lola rennt as the original title is. In one of the scenarios, Lola runs into a casino. On a win or loss, she bets 100 Deutschmarks on number 20 on the roulette wheel. In the scene that is one of the most distinctive in the whole film, we see Lola standing at the roulette table. She is clearly out of place in the exclusive environment among the dressed-up people. As the ball begins to slow down on the move, Lola starts screaming like a madwoman. Her screams cut through the marrow and bones of the others in the room and her screams cause glass to shatter. It's as if her screams also affect the wheel and the bullet, which amazingly lands on number 20. How the film ends is for those who are interested to see for themselves.

The Hangover

The Hangover, or Baksmällan as it is known in Swedish, was a low-budget film that unexpectedly became a huge success worldwide. It also resulted in two sequels. In the film, a bunch of guys wake up with the world's memory after a bachelor party, and the groom is missing. The film's script is actually based on a real incident where the screenwriter's friend woke up with amnesia after a bachelor party. In the first film, which was shot in Las Vegas over just 15 days, the main characters need money and come up with the idea of counting cards. The scene is coolly shot with effects, quick cuts and music overlaid to further drive up the pace and tension. So anyone who wants to get that real Vegas feel should see this film.
