Transition at CCYD – Primary Cluster Schools
Primary Cluster schools have been attending transition at CCYD over the last 10 days, where they have had the opportunity to access some of the curriculum, meet teachers and visit our outside space, all whilst keeping safe and keeping to covid regulations!
It has been a positive and thrilling experience for the learners who were able to take part in the thematic topic ‘lLuna Landings’.
Learners worked collaboratively with the PE & Health & Wellbeing staff to work on their energy levels to get to the moon! They worked to solve problems and thought about the ways in which we should be working to look after our body and mind.
During their Literacy taster session Learners were encouraged to be creative in their writing, making use of their imaginations and creative vocabulary.
After a short tour of the outside areas year 6 were then all set for their numeracy lesson, focusing on helping Zid on his space travel through the galaxy, whilst working in teams to solve weight, time & distance problems.
For the last session of the day learners got creative with the D&T department. creating, building and adapting a flying craft. Pupils were encouraged to improve their flying craft with every flight, thinking about how they might increase its distance everytime – it seems yr 6 are very competitive! However the winner of the furthest flight path was Zachary King, from OVPS – Da Iawn Zac!
We hope that the learners had a fabulous experience, we know the staff did! We look forward to seeing you all in September.
