“School Swap” Project
On Wednesday 15th January 2020, ten of our learners from years 9 to 12 attended the first in a series of meetings as part of a regional “School Swap” project hosted at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea. The aim of the project is to explore cultural and social differences between young people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend, celebrating similarities and exploring differences with respectful curiosity. During the day our learners were given the opportunity to discuss a range of important issues about race, religion, culture, and social backgrounds. The meeting was filmed by a professional media company, where some of our learners spoke honestly and directly to the camera about their experiences throughout the day. Following the final group meeting, the media company will edit together the footage gathered throughout the project to produce a short film documentary to consolidate the findings, that will be shown across the region. The documentary will have 3 high profile screenings in each of the regions – Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend for an invited audience.
The facilitators of the project were highly complementary of our learners and the valuable contribution that they made throughout the day. Congratulations Connor Hancock, Rhys Preston, Ella Clatworthy, Anwen Ellis, Keira Hill, Ellie James, Isabelle Phillips, Megan Stone, Lahne Ihme and Emily Mann. We are very proud of you all.
