Grace represents the Fire Service in Regional & Nationals
Good news at CCYD! Grace is representing the Fire Service in Wales as a Cadet in regional and national competitions for presenting kit /drills. She is completing a BTEC qualification with the Fire Service after school hours and attends training three times a week. Grace was introduced to the Fire Service via the ‘Tackle’ program, run by the Ospreys in the community in CCYD in 2023/24.
Whilst attending Fire Cadets, in the Bridgend branch, Grace and fellow cadets in South Wales were told there would be a competition within the region to see who could compete, then represent the area, also to go forward to National level, regarding performing kit drills. Only six were picked, Grace being one of them. She was put into first aid and equipment assembly. She placed first in both the categories she was entered into.
Because of that success within the region, the group are going to National Competitions on September the 27th 2024, to Portsmouth against England. Also competing in Scotland. There is also a higher level of international competition to aspire to. The Fire Service have spotted Graces’ excellent qualities and it is likely Grace will be asked to stay on for a third year, as a cadet, so that she can become a junior instructor to other younger cadets.
We are very proud of Grace, her grit and determination in this activity and in all her academic achievements. We wish her all the best with her upcoming competition, she is a credit to her family, school,Tackle, but most of all herself.
Diolch Grace!
