GCSE Results Day At CCYD
Congratulations to all of our Year 11 learners
Our warmest congratulations go out to all of our 194 learners in Year 11 who received their results today in BOTH GCSE and Vocational subjects. It has been a privilege to work alongside our learners over the last five years. They have worked so effectively as individuals but also as a team to support each other through their examinations.
It is difficult to make year-on-year annual results comparisons due to the new interim measures from Welsh Government. However, we are pleased that the new interim measures are about raising aspirations for all learners and not just about focusing on the C/D learners. We are very pleased to report that CCYD’S results were in line with our hopes for this year group. We improved in the most important measure of the Capped 9 points score and there was a tremendous improvement in the scores of our disadvantaged learners which will put us above the Welsh average.
Once again, our MLD learners have performed exceptionally well. We are especially proud of the learners who joined us during their school career for a fresh start, some as late as year 11. Not only have our learners achieved a great set of results but we have had the pleasure of seeing each learner grow and develop personally during their time at CCYD. We are very proud of each and every one of them.
There were some exceptional individual performances. These include:
Grace Lewis 8A* 3A 2B 1C
James Griffiths 6A* 6A 2B

Tracey Wellington, Headteacher is absolutely delighted: “These are stunning results and they reflect the hard work of all the learners, teachers, governors and supportive parents. Our school is going from strength to strength and it was a privilege to be amongst so many happy young people this morning. We hope to see many of them return to us in September to join our Sixth Form. For those we are going to new pastures, we wish them well on the next stage of their journey.
